Advertising Disclosure

Arizona Z Best is free to use. We pay for it with advertising, and this page explains exactly how that works.

Featured Local Partners

A business can buy the Featured Local Partner placement for one city and one category — for example, Mesa plumbers. Only one business holds that placement at a time.

Featured partners appear prominently on the relevant page and are always labelled Sponsored or Featured Partner. This is advertising. It is not a recommendation from us, and we do not present it as one.

Editorial picks are separate

Our Arizona Z Best Pick is an editorial choice made by a person, using the criteria in How We Rank. Paying us does not make a business our pick, and declining to pay us does not prevent it.

A business can hold both statuses at once. Where that happens, the page shows both labels, so you can see it.

Display advertising

We sell display advertising inventory through the Zen Advertise network. Those units are labelled Advertisement or Sponsored, are visually distinct from editorial content, and are never placed above the recommendation on a page. You should get the answer you came for before you see an ad.

Call tracking on paid placements

Where a business has bought a Featured Partner placement, the number shown for that placement may be a tracking number that forwards straight through to the business. It rings the same company you are calling — the only difference is that we can then tell the advertiser how many calls their placement produced.

We do this only for paid placements. An editorial pick always shows the business's own published number.

Leads and referrals

Where a business has opted in, we may pass on quote requests submitted through our forms, and we may be paid for those enquiries. We tell you which business your details are going to before you submit, and we ask for your consent.

Outbound links

Links to the websites of listed businesses are marked `nofollow`. A directory listing is not an editorial endorsement of a destination site, and we do not represent it to search engines as one.
